It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine (Kitty) MacLean announce her sudden passing on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Dartmouth General Hospital, age 86.
Kitty was born in Halifax, the daughter of the late Joel and Doris (Barkhouse) Christianson. Deeply loved and loving, Kitty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and was appreciated for her caring, fun-loving spirit, generosity and unparalleled sense of humour. She expressed herself creatively through painting, sewing, music, cooking, baking and gardening, and through her elegant sense of fashion. She lived her long life fully, always putting others ahead of herself, taking pleasure in family and friends, enjoying summers at the cottage and a spirited game of cards.
Kitty is survived by Alfred, her husband of 65 years; sons Barrie (Karen), Truro; Bradford, Mississauga; granddaughters, Cally and Kelsey; sisters Ellen (Murray) Nickerson; Amy (Donald) Farnell; brother Hilding (Myrna) Christianson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all. Kitty was predeceased by brothers Joel (Joyce) Christianson, Edward, Robert and Norman Christianson.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth. A private family service will be held at a later date. Family flowers only, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
