Jacqueline May Ware

Jacqueline May Ware

Jackie, cherished wife of the Rev. Anthony Ware, passed away at home surrounded by her devoted family on October 4, 2011, age 76, after a brief illness fought with grace and faith.
Born in Bristol, England, on May 1, 1935, Jackie was the daughter of Ivy (Tanner) and Ronald Harris.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Tony; sons Christopher (Andra), Alberta; Andrew (Ann), Summerside, P.E.I.; daughters Beverley, Bridgewater, N.S.; and Nicola, Toronto, Ont.; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother Dr. Martyn (Janet) Harris, England; and brother-in-law Dr. John (Alice) Ware, England. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Timothy Martyn Ware, and infant grandson David Andrew Miller.
Jackie was brought up and educated in England, where she graduated from a Bristol hospital as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. She had an incredible passion for music and drama. Indeed, pretty, young Jackie was performing in a musical in a local church hall when she caught the eye of the love of her life. Tony and Jackie married March 1, 1957. Their love and commitment to each other have been a source of inspiration to all who know them.
The newlyweds emigrated to Canada where Tony was ordained by the Maritime Conference of The United Church of Canada. Jackie served her role as minister's wife with joy and faith in a number of churches on P.E.I.
The family and their two first born sons returned to England at the end of 1961, where their three youngest children were born. Jackie built a warm and loving home and gave unfailing support to her husband as they served in the industrial north-east of England and then the Channel Island of Jersey before she took on the role of teacher's wife in Devonshire.
When Tony re-entered The United Church of Canada in 1975, Jackie resumed her service in churches in P.E.I., Bermuda, Halifax and Cape Breton before she and her husband retired to Charlottetown.
Jackie pursued her love of music wherever they lived, and was an enthusiastic member of Dalhousie Chorale, the Nova Scotia International Tattoo and St. Andrew's United Church choirs in Halifax, and most recently the Confederation Choir and Spring Park United Church choirs in Charlottetown.
