Peacefully surrounded by family the passing of Shirley Edith Chappell of North Granville, wife of Reuben Arthur “Junior” Chappell, on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, N.S. Born on June 10, 1942, in Lower Sackville, N.S., daughter of the late Albert and Olive (Tait) Wier. She had a strong belief in God and belonged to the Summerside Outreach Christian Center. A loving, devoted wife, wonderful encouraging mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her motherly ways, sweet voice, cooking and her gift of hospitality. In addition to her husband of 50 years, Shirley is survived by daughters, Glenda Chappell, Jean (Paul) Folland, Linda (Keith) Phillips, Sylvia (Leon) Doiron, son, Michael (Angel) Chappell,
grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Long, Roxanne, Ross, David, Myles and Amelia, great-grandchildren Maxwell, Spencer, Allie and Elaina, eight sisters, four brothers, many sisters and brothers-in-law, two aunts, several special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister and one brother. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Funeral Thursday in the Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the North Granville Community Cemetery.
