Mary (Fran) King

Born: May 3rd, 1926

Passed on: October 3rd, 2011

Mary Frances (Fran) King passed away tragically in a car accident in Grand Falls, NL on Oct 3rd, 2011. She leaves behind her sister, Marguerite Kohut of Edmonton; sister-in-law, Margaret King of Grand Falls-Windsor; a very special friend, Mel Burt of Grand Falls-Windsor; and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Dora and Samuel King; brother, Harry King; sister, Daisy Hillier. Fran was born in Grand Falls on May 3rd, 1926, and moved to Toronto in 1948 to work. Eventually she returned back to Grand Falls in 1974. She was actively engaged in the Anglican Church, loved to sing in the choir, and enjoyed sewing and knitting for family and friends. Fran was always a very independent person, and was very fortunate to have found a soul mate with Mel Burt late in her life. We know she truly enjoyed her time with Mel and it was obvious that this relationship meant very much to her. It truly gave her the will to live her life to the fullest during her last years. We were very blessed to have had Fran in our lives and for those who had the opportunity to get to know her, realized that she was a very special person in so many ways and will be truly missed. Funeral arrangements were made by Hoskins Funeral Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor. Rev. Randy Lockyer conducted funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday, October 7, 2011 with interment at the Interfaith Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Kohut, Arty Daye, Terry King, Gary King, Peter Curran, and Dean Barry.
