It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Phyllis Evelyn Lewis (Hall) on September 30th 2011 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Beloved wife to her late Husband of 51 years, Frank Joseph Lewis. Phyllis was also predeceased by her parents Della and Richard Hall. She was a loving Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Phyllis leaves to cherish her Memory three children, Gwen Fraser (Art), Wendy Cobler, (Dwayne), Eric Lewis. Phyllis is also survived by grandchildren, Cory, Jennifer (Mike), Matthew (Jackie), Lisa (Chris), Joseph (Brandy), Jolene (Steve) and great-grandchildren, Shae-Lee, Shae, Mila, Anneke, Nathan, Colton, Kc, Avaya, Gillian, Jasmine, Nolan, Mackinley and two great grandchildren on the way. Phyllis is also survived by her Brother, Floyd (Ann) Hall, Sister Mae (Glendon) Wood and Sister Winona (John) Wilson. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was born on August 16th 1937 at Killams Mills, New Brunswick. Phyllis worked as a Telephone Operator in her younger years. After moving with her Husband and children to Swift Current she worked at the Cheese Factory and as a housekeeper for many years. She was known for her amazing cooking, cleaning abilities and loved to visit, play Skippo and color with her grandchildren. She never missed an occasion to send a card and write letters, it was a real passion. Phyllis had a wonderful sense of humor, loved music, watching sports, especially curling, loved life and enjoyed many rounds of golf. She found great strength through her church. Phyllis was a member of the Hockey Hounds and worked alongside her husband taking care of their rental properties. She enjoyed working out at he gym and loved fishing. Phyllis holds a record for the biggest Jack Fish and Rainbow Trout in the River Hurst Fishing Derby. Phyllis enjoyed her many trips back to N.B. as well as trips with the Swift Current Bike Club with her husband and especially their dream holiday an Alaskan Cruise. Phyllis fought a courageous battle with cancer. Even through the toughest of times she would always remind us that someone else was going through worse. Her courage, strength and determination will never be forgotten. Phyllis will be with us, in our memories forever and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to offer their deepest thanks to: Dr. Trudeau, Dr. Foley, Nurse Dianne, Mark Sloan and the Team at the Medicine Hat Cancer Clinic. Also a special thank you to Dr. Duke and the Palliative Care Unit at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, Dr. Bartsch and the Swift Current Cancer Clinic. A Graveside Service will be held in Swift Current at Memory Gardens Cemetery on October 15th at 3 pm, family and friends welcome, with Reverend Cliff Janzen officiating.
