LYTTLE, Myrtle Marguerite “Rita” — 97, of Hantsport, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2011, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on September 13, 1914, in Woodville, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Forrest) Davison and had lived in Ashdale for many years, before moving to Hantsport in 1951. Rita worked as a cook for many years for her father in Mill Camps and after moving to Hantsport, she worked at Johnson’s Candy Factory. She had a great love for animals, and you could see her walking every day her little dog, “Freddie” who was her great joy. She was very active in St. James United Church, was a life member of the UCW, and had started a church group called “Drop In”. Rita is survived by her daughter, Muriel (Tom) Gordon, Hantsport; grandson, Dean (Rita) Schofield, Guelph, Ontario; two great grandchildren, Mina and Gregory; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Roland “Rollie” Charles Lyttle in 1999; son-in-law, Claude Schofield; sisters, Annie Dearman; Laura Sisson; brothers, Arthur (Jennie) Davison; Harold (Aileen) Davison; Howard (Alma) Davison; John (Evelyn) Davison; and George (Maxine) Davison. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, and there was no visitation. A celebration of Rita’s life was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in St. James United Church, Prince Street, Hantsport. The Rev. Heather MacDougall officiated, followed by a reception in the Church Annex. Interment was in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. No flowers by request.
