UPTON, KAREN ELIZABETH - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Karen E. Upton of Sheffield, NB on Monday, October 10th, 2011 in Fredericton, NB. Born in Oromocto, NB she was the loving daughter of Stewart and Charlotte (Bridges) Upton. Karen was well known for her love of family, friends and nature, especially camping in her tent in the back yard. She had an extremely creative side, enjoying painting and writing poetry. In her youth she attended the Sheffield United Church Sunday School and was a 4H member where she earned many awards and trips. After her graduation from Oromocto High School, Karen attended the College of Craft and Design pursuing her dream of becoming a Graphic Artist. Still, Karen’s main focus in life was always her friends and family and she thoroughly enjoyed having them around. Karen will be missed by her parents, Stewart and Charlotte of Sheffield, NB; her brother, Andrew Upton of Lakeville Corner, NB; paternal grandparents, Reg and Ruby Upton of Lakeville Corner, NB; very close aunt, Norma Jean Bridges (Dana); aunts and uncles, Marjorie Ward (Neil), Irvine Bridges (Bonnie), Stuart Bridges (Donna) and Carl Upton (Sylvia); nephew, Cooper Upton as well as her best friends, Carla Povar, Mindy Fornier and Crystal Fornier as well as her cousins, Nicholas, Matthew and Lacey Bridges, Hayden and Josie Upton. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, James and Bea Bridges.
There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will take place at the Sheffield United Church on Thursday, October 13th, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Helena Medeiros will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. For those who wish memorial tributes in Karen’s honor may be made to the Sheffield United Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
