It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nick Ritco of Calgary on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Nick passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, surrounded by his loving family. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife and soul-mate of 67 years, Jean; sons: Jack (Dorothy) of Regina SK, Wayne (Sharon) of Calgary; grandchildren: Tammy (Curtis) Stevens of Coleman AB, Heather Brandon of Houston TX, Denise (Leah) Ritco of Calgary, AB, Darren (Corina) Ritco of Carven SK, Tanya (Ian) Johnstone of Airdrie AB, Melissa (Mike) Djakovic of Calgary AB; great-grandchildren: Clayton, Brennan and Grace Stevens, Xachary and Hailie Brandon, Skyler and Tyra Ritco, Ashtyn and Avery Ritco, Declan and Ty Johnstone, Brody and Olivia Djakovic as well as brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry (Lenora), Pete and Martin (Joyce) Ritco, Flo (George) and Faye (Sam) Ursu, Mary Ritco, Sylvia (Ian) Campbell and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Scotland and England. Nick was predeceased by his mother Minne, father Elie, brother Andy and sister-in-law Joan. Nick served in World War II with the Southern Alberta Regiment as a tank driver in Europe during the Liberation of Holland and was a mechanic by trade. He was a member of the Ogden Legion and the Greater Forest Lawn's Seniors. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the Field of Honour, Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
