Margaret Hamilton Trenholm

HAMILTON TRENHOLM, MARGARET JOAN - 1942-2011 - Peacefully at the Barrie Memorial Hospital, Ormstown, PQ., resident of Godmanchester, PQ., six months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Beloved wife and dearest friend of John Frederick Trenholm (Fred), cherished daughter of the late Kathleen DeWitt Hamilton and granddaughter of the late Ray and Lulu Sadie DeWitt, all of Woodstock, NB. She leaves to mourn her Logan cousins and their families, John (Susan), David (Jill), Bruce (Jane), and Mary Jane (the late Jim), all in the Saint John, NB area, her sister and brother - in-law, Helen Trenholm and Gerry McCartney of Ormstown, Quebec, their children Kim (Stephane) and Tracey (Jim), and grandson, Dylan, as well as the many friends who have brought such joy and pleasure to her throughout the years and during the past difficult months. She is greatly missed by her four - legged friends, Lydia, Alfie, Clarissa, and Bob. After graduating from Acadia in 1964 with a BA, Marg completed a post-graduate year in education at UNB-Fredericton and began her teaching career at the former Morin Heights High School in Morin Heights, Quebec in 1965 where she taught English Literature and Composition to the senior classes. As much as she enjoyed her teaching, other interests beckoned and when the high school section of the school closed in 1981 she left teaching to open an antique shop specializing in North American pressed patterned glass and also became a partner in an antique show promotion company that organized shows in shopping malls and other venues. Eventually her interests changed once again to perhaps the most rewarding year of her life, the breeding and showing of Old English Sheepdogs. When she was president of the Old English Sheepdog and Owners Club of Canada she started the rescue programme for her breed and over the course of seventeen years found new homes for more than a hundred Sheepies. Marg was also president for several terms of the Cornwall Kennel Club and was a tireless worker, especially at show time.
