March 23, 1971 - October 20, 2009

Joe was a unique man whose beautiful smile, legendary sense of humor, and fearless approach to life will be sadly missed.
He was immensely proud of his artistic pursuits, interest in Martial arts and Slovak heritage. He was simply unforgettable.

With his sudden and devastating loss, he will be sadly missed by his family who adore and cherish him - his mother and her husband, Jozefina and Lenard Sterle, of Kamloops, B.C., his sister and her husband, Paulina and Campbell Ryga, of Cloverdale, B.C., his sister, Karolina Pek of Shanghai, China and his brother, Gary Sterle of Truckee, California. He was a kind and gentle uncle to his nephews, Pavel and Sasha Ryga. His family from Borsky, Mikulas, Slovakia mourns him. Great family friends of Joe, Wojdanski's, Galea's and Milosovic's were important figures in Joseph's life.

We thank all the friends who have shared kind and thoughtful words with us. Joe's formidable spirit will live eternally in our hearts.

We miss you.
