HAYES, Robert Wesley - 95, formerly of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Blomidon Court - Shannex, Greenwich, Kings County. Born in Coldbrook, he was a son of the late Garfield and Zilphy (Fuller) Hayes. Together with his brothers they owned and operated Hayes Lumber business and developed Hayes Subdivision in Coldbrook. He was a former member of the Kings County Commercial Travellers Association, the Kentville Gyro Club, the Glooscap Curling Club, the Ken-Wo Golf and Country Club and the Coldbrook Seniors. Bob had been a member of the Berwick 3 Stars hockey team which was inducted into Berwick’s Sports Hall of Fame. He was a skilled craftsman, having built a number of houses and many of his handmade pieces of furniture are in a number of homes. He is survived by one daughter, June (William) Gates, Coldbrook; three sons, Garfield (Sandra), Markdale, Ontario; Robert “Bob” (Lois), Coldbrook and Peter (Lisa), Delhaven; a brother, Laurie, Coldbrook; 10 grandchildren, Mona, Brenda, Wendy, Holly, Robbie, Carl, Blake, David, Garfield and Sandrea; 13 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Rose, Kentville.. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice “Bea”; two sisters, Muriel and Edna; two brothers, Roy and John. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremations Services and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service took place followed by a reception at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Mark Parent officiating. Burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
