KENNEY, Arden Lawrence – 79, of Nictaux, NS passed away, Monday, October 24, 2011 in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Perley and Harriett (Redden) Kenney. After completing high school, he joined the Bank of Nova Scotia in Middleton and later transferred to New Waterford, Cape Breton. Deciding that banking wasn’t going to be his life’s career, he joined Maritime Tel & Tel. During his time with the company he worked in Annapolis Royal, New Glasgow, Charlottetown and Middleton. Arden retired in 1991 in Middleton as Engineering Manager Outside Plant for District 4 Valley with 40 years service. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; past president of the Middleton Curling Club and treasurer for many years. While attending school, he was active in all school sports. He was a member of the Middleton baseball team that won the Maritime Intermediate Baseball Championship in 1951 and with Bear River when they won the title in 1952. In retirement, his hobbies included woodworking, model airplane building and doing crossword puzzles. He was very proud of his children all during their childhood, getting an education and their accomplishments in their adult life. He was predeceased by daughter, Pamela in infancy; sisters, Ruth and Enid and brothers, Vernon and Percy. He is the last surviving member of the immediate family. Arden is survived by his wife Ann Wright; daughters, Terri Bradley, Moncton, NB; Jacquie (Bruce) Robinson, Clarence; sons, Greg (Bonnie), Milton and Jeff (Melissa) Ottawa, ON; three grandsons and one granddaughter. Also step daughters, Valerie (Larry) Drew, Melvern Square; Michele (Kevin) Height, Nictaux, Susanne Armstrong, Nictaux; one step grandson and two step granddaughters. Surviving also are three nieces and three nephews. Special thanks to our friends Bryan and Ruth Brooks, who were always there when needed. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. It was Arden’s request that there will be no visitation or memorial service. A private family graveside service and interment of ashes in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or Charity of One’s Choice. Online Guest Book maybe signed by visiting www.middletonfuneralhome.com
