Donald Harrison

It is with sadness that the family of the late Donald J. Harrison age 85 of Lower Maccan, Cumberland County announce his passing on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, NS.
Born on October 22, 1926 in Lower Maccan, he was a son of the late Elwin and Jennie (Miner) Harrison.
Donald’s lifelong interest was farming the Harrison Homestead farm. He raised a fine herd of beef cattle and calves.
While health permitted, Donald was an active member of the Maccan Baptist Church, serving in church offices for many years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Hope (Dawson) Harrison, his chosen daughter Janet Hamby of Edmonton, AB, his foster son Norman (Mary) McFadden of Kingston, ON and their sons James and Wayne and families of Balmerton, ON.
Donald is also survived by his sisters Laura Holden of Maccan, Joyce Terrio of Joggins, and Erma (Mike) Lutsch of Windsor, ON, one brother David (Rita) of Amherst, sister-in-law Effie Harrison-Jobsey (John) of Morinville, Alberta and one brother- in- law Angus Emslie of Lower Maccan and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Alastair, sister, Blanche Emslie, sister-in-law Dorothy Fletcher and brother-in-law Ron Terrio.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., all in Campbell’s Funeral Home 98 Church Street, Amherst. (667-9906) with Rev. Philip Scott and Rev. Leslie Jobb officiating.
Interment took place in the Amherst Cemetery in the family plot.
