James Albert Gardner passed away Friday November 11, 2011 in Moose Jaw.
He was born on January 12, 1921 on the farm at Rowletta, SK. He is predeceased by his loving wife Norma McCoy; daughter Elizabeth Jeanne Leipert; his parents and three brothers. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his sons Gord and Clay (Yvette); son-in-law Brian Leipert (Pauline); his grandchildren and his nine special great-grandchildren. Albert was born on the farm and grew up working with his dad and brothers farming in the Rowletta area. He was married to Norma in 1944 and settled on the farm north of Rowletta. They remained on the farm raising their three children until they started wintering in Moose Jaw in 1969. They permanently made the move to Moose Jaw in 1977. Albert continued to farm and Norma would join him to prepare meals. Dad was an active member of the Keeler Farmer’s Union, the Premier School Board and the Rowletta Civic Center Committee. He was an avid curler, hunter and fisherman and was a sports fan enjoying hockey, baseball, golf and football. Albert was the family comedian loving to make people laugh. He was known in the community as “HUB”. The family wishes to thank the staff of Extendicare, especially Wanda and Kathleen, as well as Dr. K. Dautremont and Dr. B. Sanderson. The Funeral Service will be held in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 1:30pm. Rev. Kevin Ratzlaff will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
