It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Robert ‘Bob’ Kenneth MacDonald. Bob passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Kenny John A. and Catherine (McNeil) MacDonald.
Bob was employed with Devco for a period of time. He was a member of Boilermakers, Local 73 retiring after several years of service. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 3. All who knew and worked with Bob were touched by his kindness and humour.
Bob is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Clarice; children, Robbie, Denise, Gary, Craig, Cori (Dougie), Leanne (James), Alicia and John A. Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Dustin, Shyanne, Renee, Jennifer, Jessica, A.J., Ryan, Elyssa, Emily, Bryden, T.J., Evan, Molly, Alyssa, Nicholas, Sabrena, Lindsay, Liam, Emma and Gregory; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Yvonne), Ricky (Pauline); sisters, Wendy (Jamie) Linda (Jerry); and many nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kenny, brother, James, grandchildren, Joelle and Amber.
Visitation for Bob will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Cremation will follow with interment at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
