Karen Elizabeth Sametz, age 54, of Swift Current, passed away October 23, 2011 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The memorial service was held Thursday, October 27, 2011 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Kiel and Student Pastor Jay Lutz officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld. The interment service took place a Memory Lane Cemetery in Morse Sk. Karen was born in Redvers, Sk on January 15, 1957. She attended school in Redvers and Outlook. She was married to Keith Curry on July 6, 1974. Then married Gary Hillhouse on January 14, 1984 and Steve Sametz on July 1, 1989. Karen worked as a homecare worker for many years. Karen enjoyed being on the tractor and farming, being a house wife and mom, painting signs, decorating cakes, crafting silk flowers and stained glass. She spent her last years loving and enjoying her grandchildren. She was an awesome mom, sister and friend. She loved her grandchildren to no end and spent many hours with them, spoiling them. She was always there for everyone in need. Karen in survived by her son Blair (Sherri) Curry; daughters Jennifer (Jamie) Curry, Rebecca (Dustin) Sametz; grandchildren Brayden and Domimick Curry and Lukas Tyberg; sisters Wendy (Dale) Turton, Sheila (Maurice) Quennelle, Jocelyn (Glen) Hainsworth, Margaret Cram, Amy (Francis) Pierrard; brother Eric (Rhonda) Purvis and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Steve Sametz; second husband Gary Hillhouse; daughter Gwendolyn Curry; mother Joy Purser; father Ronald Purvis; step father Don Purser; nephew Brian Quennelle; and brothers-in-law John Quennelle and John Cram. Karen will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends.
