BECKER: Rudolf (Rudy) Becker the eldest of 6 children, born to Henry and Helene Becker, passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital on Nov 5, 2011 at the age of 83 years. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and an infant brother Arthur, and sister-in-law Evelyn. Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Arline, of 32 years and 5 children: Ron (Marianne) Becker & 2 daughters Natasha & Adrianna of Langley, B.C., Debbie (Emil) Tweten of Eatonia, Sk & 2 sons - Jeff (Treena) of Regina, Jason (Courtney) and 2 great grandchildren, Riley and Hannah Tweten of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Linda Becker of Victoria, B.C., Denise Becker of Burnaby B.C. & Randy Becker of Coquitlam, B.C. Also survived by 2 brothers and 2 sisters: Edna (Les) King, Harvey Becker, Doris King, Marvin Becker and numerous nieces and nephews. Rudy went to school up to grade 9 at Salt Lake School 3 1/2 miles from the family farm. He and his siblings walked or rode horse. Most of his life he did house painting and later building maintenance. He liked to build and fix things. He was a wonderful provider. Rudy moved to Vancouver in 1976 where he met and married Arline Porteous in 1979. They moved back to Swift Current in 2001 where he joined the Prairie Pioneers Kawanis Club, which he enjoyed. Rudy belonged to the Legion and St. Olaf Church. In his younger years he enjoyed roughhousing with his grandsons and watching them play sports. He helped his granddaughters with homework and made them do dishes. He thoroughly enjoyed his great grandchildren, Riley and Hannah, although he never got much time with them. Rudy enjoyed football, baseball, hockey (especially when his grandsons played) and on T. V. He enjoyed watching curling, fishing, playing cards, golfing and shooting pool. In 2002 Rudy's journey with cancer began. In Feb 2011 he could no longer speak but his writing skills improved. His funeral was held at St Olaf Church, Swift Current, SK, Saturday, November 12th with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. The organist for the service was Arlie Neufeld and special music in song, was presented by Blair Gehl. Interment followed at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rush Lake. Donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the St Olaf Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Rudy fought a long, hard battle with cancer and will be greatly missed by his family.
