LAPOINTE, Theresa Irene (nee d’Entremont), went to meet her Lord and Saviour on November 12, 2011 at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born Nov 21, 1926 in Yarmouth Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Jeremie d’Entremont and Odelle (d’Eon) d’Entremont who predeceased her. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Lapointe, brothers Evariste and Julius and sisters Saraphie, Sylvia, Zeta and Rose. She is survived by her five step-children, Pat Switzer (Dale) of Fort Simpson, NWT, Val Levenec of Souris, MB, Isabelle Witt of Portage La Prairie, MB, Jeanine Henson (Peter) of Winnipeg, MB and Frank Lapointe (Irene) of Chilliwack, B.C., 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, as well as three nieces, one nephew and many friends. Theresa had a beautiful and well-trained singing voice and was a headliner in many plays and operettas when she lived in Yarmouth. She also recorded the hymn Ave Maria. Theresa worked for several years for Maple Leaf Services at the base in Fort Churchill where her brother was stationed. From there she went to Winnipeg where she met her husband and his five children. She worked tirelessly at Loeppky’s Store in St. Norbert, then at the Villa Maria Retreat House in the kitchen and housekeeping for 21 years. A member of the CWL, she led the organization of many bazaars, rummage sales and other charitable events. She was a faithful member of the church choir. Terry loved to walk and she chose it as her primary mode of transportation. She enjoyed having breakfast with family and friends. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings. She worked hard to continue the family traditions at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, especially by continuing to make the family’s favorite recipes that her husband Charlie had taught her to make. Funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 17 at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Father Kevin Bettens officiated. Viewing was held at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and Dr. Young for their excellent care and compassion during Terry’s last days.
