Marion MacDonald

MacDONALD, MARION - Family, laughter and music defined Marion's life. She loved her family. She was married to Bill for almost 70 years. Theirs was a true love match and an inspiration to those close to them. She has missed him dearly since he passed away just five weeks ago on October 6th. Marion was a loving and entertaining mother, a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She laughed often and always had a story - told with a quick sense of humour and a delightful smile. She knew how to be a good friend and worked to make sure people weren't lonely. Music was her delight. Marion sang with her sisters in four part harmony at family gatherings well into her 90's. She could belt out soulful songs for family and friends usually accompanied by Bill and his baritone ukulele. Marion was born on March 31st, 1918 in Sydney Nova Scotia and passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2011 in Oakville, Ontario surrounded by family. Her husband William Alexander Francis MacDonald, and grandson Brendan Court predecease her. She is survived by her three children Jean Straton Wright (Peter), Bruce Demille MacDonald (Dianne), and Alice Jardine Court (David), grandchildren Alice Wilson, Christopher Wright, Ian MacDonald, Alexander MacDonald, Fraser MacDonald, Colin Court, Abigail Court, and six great-grandchildren as well as all four of her very special sisters, Peggy McAlpine, Jean Morrison, Eleanor Tennant and Grace McMurray.
It is said, "As people live, so do they die". Such was the case with Marion. Smiles for her family right to the moment she passed away. She will be greatly missed. Online condolences may be offered at www.oakviewfuneral.ca
