Joseph Bishop
1943 - 2011
It is with sadness that the family of the late Joseph (Joe) Bishop of Port Anson announces that he passed away peacefully on Nov 10, 2011. He was born April 9, 1943 in King’s Point and later met the love of his life, Salome Burton, in Port Anson. They married on Dec 24, 1963 at Port Anson, where they settled and later raised one daughter Louise. Joe was especially proud when grandson Matthew was born. He and Matthew became best buddies and spent a lot of time together, berry picking, trouting, and cutting wood. Joe was a hard worker and made his living in various ways but he was best known for his ability to work with his hands. He was often recognized as having “magical hands”. He was a loving and caring man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Left to remember the wonderful life that he lived are: wife Salome, daughter Louise (Wade Burton), grandson Matthew, brother Arthur, sisters Myra (Freeman), & Audrey, as well as a large circle of other relatives & friends. He was predeceased by parents, Arthur & Lily-May, sister Bernice, & brother, Allen. Pastor Tyrone Ball conducted the funeral service on Nov 14, 2011 from the Pentecostal Church, Port Anson, with interment following at the Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were friends Kirby & Ron Canning, Doff & Ford Morey, David Rowsell, nephew Rodney Gray.
