Passed peacefully away at age 64 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn his loving family: wife, Sheila (Hayward); children: Erin (Duane), Bryan and Tom, and darling grandson, Isaac; mother Rita; sisters: Marilyn Plank, Gwen (Vernon) Smith, Marina (Ronald) Faquin; brothers: Ron (Jacquie), Raymond; and sisters in law: Lillian Power and Pat (Keith) Conway, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gord is predeceased by his father Joseph, brother Kelvin and sister Joan. He also leaves to mourn: many dear friends, his colleagues at the College of the North Atlantic where he taught for 30 years and, of course his golfing buddies on “The Hill”. Always a supporter of the local music scene, Gord’s favourite music was performed by his own family band who lovingly entertained him right to the end. Funeral arrangements to be announced later.
