Raoul Arsenault
ARSENAULT, RAOUL J. - Raoul J. Arsenault, 82, of Moncton, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at The Moncton Hospital following a fourteen year battle with cancer. Born on March 12, 1929 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Elmer and Celina (Cormier) Arsenault. Raoul Arsenault was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1310 for over 50 years. He was Past Grand Knight (1965), a 4th Degree Member, received the Medal of Merit in 1993 the Knights of Columbus’ highest honor, and also served as Public Relations Officer for the Knights of Columbus’ New Brunswick State Council for many years. As a man of strong faith, Mr. Arsenault also served as a committee member with the Moncton Area Council of Churches. Mr. Arsenault was former manager of the Lewisville Keefe Cubs Baseball Team from 1951 to 1954 and was inducted as an honored member of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame in 1989. He was also a talented magician in his younger years and some of his work caught the attention of the famous Holden Magic Shops (Boston) in the early 1950’s. His children will always enjoy the memories of his “bunny” shadowgraphy and livingroom magic tricks while growing up. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorine (Boudreau); five children: Paul (Ida) of Moncton, Terrance (Sylvia) of Winnipeg, MB, Louise of Shediac, Guy (Bernadette) of Eastern Passage, NS and Nicole Myers (Troy) of Riverview; one sister: Phyllis LeBlanc (Tony Lapointe); two brothers: Arcade (Thérèse) of Shediac and Euclide (Liliette) of Grand-Barachois; six grandchildren, Patricia, Christine (Jamie), Jennifer, Ashley, Emily and Wesley, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Ulysse.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Monday, November 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; Tuesday, November 29, from 10:00 a.m. until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. Church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton, on Tuesday, November 29, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception.
