With his family at his side, Jack Nisbet, husband of Muriel (Mountain) Nisbet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1924, at Tyne Valley, P.E.I., to the late Thomas and Lucy (Birch) Nisbet. Jack served his country overseas in the Second World War, he was in the entire Normandy Campaign, serving with the 3rd Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment R.C.A. which included the liberation of Holland. Following his discharge, he then worked in Summerside, P.E.I., for 10 years before moving to New Brunswick. He worked for Eastern Bakeries Ltd. for the next 32 years, retiring as vice-president of sales. Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #22, Ellerslie, P.E.I., Masonic Lodge, Summerside, and a charter member of the Simonds Lions Club. Besides his wife of 63 years, Muriel, Jack is survived by one son, Tom Nisbet of Cambridge-Narrows, three daughters: Janet Nisbet of Saint John, Sandra DiGiannantonio (John) of Grand Blanc, MI., and Marlene Duckworth (Dennis) of Liverpool, N.S., two brothers: Arnold and Ronald (Olga), four sisters: Margaret Kennedy, Betty Nicholson (Jim), Helen McKay and Lucy Forbes (Stan), three grandchildren: Michael DiGiannantonio of Chicago, IL, Heather DiGiannantonio of Louisville, KY, and Sara Hood (Jason) of Fredericton, one great-granddaughter: Avah Gray Hood. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Warren, sister-in-law Emeline and brother-in-law, Ronald Kennedy. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Research would be appreciated by the family.
