It is with deep sadness that we announce Charlotte’s passing, with her loving granddaughter, Jessica, by her side, in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
Born Feb. 23, 1948, in Sydney, she was the daughter of Evelyn (Mollon) and the late Wilbert Goodman.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 43 years, Larry; son, L. J. (Donna Marie) and her much loved granddaughter, Jessica. Charlotte is also survived by her mother, Evelyn; brother, Bill (Joanne); sisters, Judy Colford (George) and Kimberley Paruch (Bernard), all of Sydney and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
She was predeceased by her father, Wilbert (2007).
Charlotte graduated from Sydney Academy and the Cape Breton Business College. She was employed at Modern City Dairy, the Bank of Montreal and more recently, at Gordon Photographic, until her illness.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Charlotte loved music and especially enjoyed going to her son’s gigs. She and Larry loved to spend time with family and friends at their welcoming home, at poolside and over many meals. Charlotte enjoyed cooking and baking for all. As well, she loved decorating and had a creative talent and could be counted on to provide food, advice and whatever was needed. Charlotte will be sorely missed by her precious pup, Dutchess and by all whose lives she touched, as well as the many friends she embraced as her own family.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday 1-5 p.m. A memorial service will be held Monday 10:30 a.m. at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating.
Memorials may be made in Charlotte’s memory to the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.
