ADKINS, Rev. Stephen Benjamin– Passed peacefully away on Thursday, December 1, 2011, after a brief illness, at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, Rev. Stephen Adkins, age 74 years. Predeceased by his wife Ellen (Burridge) in 2009 and his parents Rev. Charles and Eileen Adkins of Lincolnshire, England. Leaving to mourn his son Philip (Jennifer); sister Rosemary of England; sisters-in-law Shirley Burridge, Olga Hodge (Clayton - deceased), Rubyann Mercer (Austin); also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends in England and Newfoundland. Rev. Steve served at St. Michael’s and All Angels, St. John’s, Fogo, Whitbourne, Pouch Cove, Harbour Breton and Twillingate. He was also a member of Avalon Lodge of the Masonic Order. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Craigmillar Avenue on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at The Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
