Cancer survivor, selfless mother, committed wife, dog lover, piano player, life-long adventurer, mischief maker, and dear friend to so many. Passed away peacefully on December 3, 2011 in Vernon, BC two days after her 92nd Birthday.

Born Patricia Helen Horn in Kenora, Ontario on December 1, 1919 she spent her childhood both there and in Revelstoke, BC, before attending first McGill, then UBC, completing her Bachelor of Arts in 1940 and her Teacher Training in 1941.

Her passion for teaching took her around the province to Duncan, Campbell River, West Vancouver, Kelowna, Prince George and Dawson Creek where she met her future husband Lee Andrews.

Their mutual sense of adventure, and a river boat they built named Patsy Lee, helped them explore the northern waterways as they switched gears and settled in Hudson Hope to run a hotel, restaurant and general store during the construction of the WAC Bennett Dam.

Hardship (loss of the business to fire) and heartbreak (loss of her first born son Jon to the Peace River) redirected them to the lower mainland where she returned to teaching, nurtured a passion for volunteer work, and introduced her sons to the mountains.

She worked tirelessly as a volunteer for numerous charities, and as secretary for both the Kajaks and Norwesters Track & Field clubs. She was recognized with consecutive "Senior of the Year" awards in Logan Lake where they had retired and enjoyed a happy 18 years there before her health forced another move.

She was pre-deceased by her sister Marion, her brothers Jack and Don, her first-born son Jon and her favorite dogs Mike, and Nippy.

Now off on another adventure to catch up with Jon, play with her dogs again, and see what's around the next corner...she patiently waits for the rest of us to finish our own journeys.

Survived by her husband of 57 years Lee, sons Chris and Greg, and grandchildren Nathan, Jamie, Aidan, and Torin.

She will be sorely missed.

In keeping with her wishes a small private ceremony of remembering and thanks will take place on Friday, December 16, 2011 in Vernon, BC.

Special thanks to the incredible staff and residents at Creekside Landing who cared for her so deeply and were with her throughout the final leg of her journey.
