It is with heartfelt sadness the family announce the peaceful passing of Sylvia Edmunds, 62, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Florence, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Angus Kenneth and Eliza Jane ‘Jannie’ (Butts) MacAskill.
Sylvia enjoyed the outdoors, taking care of her blooms and bushes, a good cup of tea with a sweet, quilting and crafting, and sharing much laughter with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 45 years, Lorne Roger ‘Bud’ Edmunds; her son, Lorne (Donna); her daughter, Tina White, both of Millville. She will be greatly missed by her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Harley, Alan and Mitchell; her sisters, Mary (Richard) Ahle, Ontario, Corrine (Heckie) Stubbert, Millville, Wanda (Joe) Young, Sydney, Melinda (Jackie) Mark, Bridgewater, Carrie MacAskill (Tom), Millville; brothers, Roddie (Margie), Ontario, Danny (Adrianna), Dartmouth, Murray (Jeanette), Alberta, Terry (Corinna), North Sydney, Nayland (Debbie), Paul (Florence) and Glenn, all of Millville. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and in-laws who thought so much of her and enjoyed her humour.
As per her request, there will be no visitation. A private family service for Sylvia will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Rev. Marion Barclay officiating.
