Mania Podgursky, 76, a former resident of King Street, Scotchtown, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Tynski) Wojick.
Mania was a member of the former St. Michael’s parish, River Ryan. In her earlier years she was employed by Sobeys. Mom loved to cook, bake and do gardening; but mostly she loved being a grandmother.
Mania is survived by three daughters, Karen, Ontario, Kathryn (Gil MacDougall), New Waterford, Kimberly (Martin Campbell), Sydney; two sons, Kevin, Dartmouth, Keith (Lisa), New Waterford; one brother, Terry Wojick, Whitney Pier, and one sister, Julieanne ‘Bootsie’ Davidson, Ottawa. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Catherine, Christine, Samantha, Nicole, Kyle, Alisha, Danielle, Melanie, Cody and Dana Jason.
Mania was predeceased by her husband, Albert ‘Sonny’ Podgursky, three brothers, Walter, Edward and twin brother, Joseph, both in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley is Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard’s Church followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. All are invited to the Carmel Center for a reception.
