ARMSTRONG, William Saunds “Bill” – 80, of Middleton passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Melbourne and Evelyn (Durling) Armstrong. Bill was a life-long resident of Middleton, who spent his whole working life working alongside his father starting at Armstrong Auto and later with Armstrong Shoe Store. He was a past member of the Middleton Curling Club for 43 years, past member of the Middleton Rotary Club, where he had served as treasurer, past member of Eden Golf & Country Club, past member of the Vocational School Board and was involved with coaching minor baseball. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed his workshop making furniture and in his latter years making toys. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Doris Daniels; daughters, Wendy (Don) Wright, Anchorage, Alaska; Krista (Peter) McCarthy, Lower Sackville; son, Gary (Nancy) Armstrong, Nictaux West; grandchildren, Meaghan, Darcy, Jenay, Tara and Bryden; step-grandchildren, Dan and Becky; great grandchildren, Ashley, Michael and Matthew and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Isabel Smith. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton.
