Allan Carter
With profound sadness and breaking hearts we announce the death of Allan Carter, age 67, of Sackville. Allan passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 after a lengthy illness and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Garnet and Mary (Cunningham) Carter.
Allan was a heavy equipment operator, employed with Beale and Inch Construction as well as many other companies and still enjoyed watching any kind of machinery right up to the end. Allan also enjoyed horse pulls, rodeos, and spending time with his much loved family, grandchildren and loyal dog Rex.
Left behind to love him forever are his wife Pat (Christie), Sackville; daughter Mary McClary (Ron), River Hebert, NS; son Allan Colin (Crystal) of Sackville; grandchildren Kelsey-Lynne, Brodie, Joanna; special grampie to Cassey and Rebecca Smith and Max Christie; sisters Hazel (Bob) Berry, Sackville, Gladys Wood, New Glasgow, Margaret Jean Carter, Amherst, Audrey (Paul) Spence, Dorchester; special brothers-in-law Russell Trenholm, Fort Lawrence and Richard Wood, Woodpoint; in-laws Marshall and Suzanne Christie, Mae Blackburn, Eddie and Marlene Christie, Donnie and Debbie Christie, Brenda and Brian Pollock, Jack and Elizabeth Christie, Susan and Al Goodwin, Fred and Koren Christie, Heather Woods, Will and Mona Christie; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; very special nephew Carman Wells who brought so much comfort and peace during Allan's illness.
In addition to his parents, Allan was predeceased by his son Fred in 2010, sister Hilda Estabrooks; brothers Donnie Carter and Ronald Carter, nephew Leslie Brownell, as well as father and mother-in-laws Max and Marjorie Christie.
Arrangements are under the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300). Cremation has taken place. Allan's funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2 pm. All are welcome to visit with the family prior to the funeral from 1 pm until 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Point De Bute Cemetery.
