BURTON, Gardiner Donald – 77, Malagash/Auld’s Cove, NS passed away on December 13, 2011.
For 33 years he operated the Cove Motel in Aulds’s Cove until he semi-retired at which point his wife Linda continued to operate the business. He moved to Malagash and built his dream home for them. He, to this day, was so proud of what he had achieved over the years, to the once run down property in Auld’s Cove. When friends went to visit him in Malagash, no doubt, they would find him on his mower or working on the grounds. Every blade of grass had to be perfect. On rainy days he would play his piano for hours on end. He loved taking care of his four legged kids, MoJo and Mia. During the winter months, he went to Barbados to join his many friends and his golfing buddies, Murph from Murphy’s on the Waterfront and Tom of Rochester, NY. He anxiously awaited for Linda to join him for golfing whenever she could go. The sunshine and warmth always made him so, so happy. He is survived by his wife Linda (nee Tibbo) of Harbour Breton, Newfoundland; sons Tony, David and Kendall of Halifax, 6 grandchildren,1 great grandchild; a brother Phil (Carol) of Manitoba, sisters Donna (Harold), Ontario and Cookie (Dorothy), Truro, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brother Daryl, and Billy (Truro). Gardiner’s wishes were to have no services, but instead to celebrate his life with a party which will include all his friends, staff and family. His favourite saying was, “What’s For Dinner” and “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.” Donations may be made to the SPCA.
