It is with great sadness, that we announce, the peaceful passing of Lorenzo ‘Moon’ Mullins, 82 years of age, at his home on November 11, 2009.
He was born in Glace Bay but spent most of his life living in Donkin N.S. He was the son of the late Joseph Lorenzo Mullins and Muriel Martin Mullins. He worked for many years in the Cape Breton coal mines. His retirement years were spent on his hobby farm which he took great pride in, a variety of musical pursuits (singing and playing musical instruments), and communication with people around the world as an amateur ham operator an interest he shared with his late father, Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years; Bernice Mullins, four sons Raymond (Val), George (Jeralyn) of British Columbia, Paul (Joanne) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Joe in Calgary Alberta, and by six daughters; Rhona Joly of Calgary Alberta, Vivian Bushell of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Gennie (Gerald) Boutin of South Head, Nova Scotia, Denise (Frank) Paul of Truro, Nova Scotia, Catherine Mullins of Namsos, Norway and Chauhanna Bartier of Barrhead, Alberta. Survived also by 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters Florence Manro of New Brunswick and Jackie Oxton of Florida.
He was predeceased by one brother, James Buck Mullins and two sisters, Jean Sassiville and Kay Brown of Ontario, and Vivian Woodburn of Sydney and by one granddaughter, Amber Mullins.
There will be no visitation or funeral service as requested by the deceased. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in Glace Bay.
