With broken hearts, we the family, announce the death of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Augustine ‘Gus’ McIsaac.
Gus passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Codroy Valley, N.L., he was the son of the late John and Alice (Carter) McIsaac.
He was a member of St. Leonard parish, New Waterford.
Gus worked in the coal mines for many years and later on security for Devco.
He loved the outdoors — especially his many years camping in Lake Ainslie. He loved to hunt and fish.
Gus was above all a true family man who loved to be surrounded by his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gussie is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret (MacDonald); his son, Ronnie (Debbie), Bedford, N.S.; and his daughter, Patsy (Paul MacDonald), New Waterford. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren, Paula (Greg) Morrison, Ronalda (Jeff) Stapleton, Bernie MacDonald, Christena, Ian and Elizabeth McIsaac. His precious great-grandchildren, Maggie, Michael, Maria, Kate and Claire also mourn the passing of ‘Gussie’. He is also survived by his sister, Annie, Ohio.
Gus was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Walter and Billy, sisters, Margaret, Katherine, Georgina and Shirley.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 21 in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the KOC Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the An Cala palliative care unit at the regional hospital in Sydney, N.S.
