HAMPDEN and EASTON, Mass. – Morag Murray, 82, wife of Donald Murray, formerly of Easton, Mass., died November 7, 2009, at her home with her family at her side, after a brief illness.
She was born July 29, 1927, in Loch Broom, N.S., the daughter of Joseph and Jessie W. (Muir) Allen.
Morag and Donald were longtime residents of Easton, Mass, until moving to Maine in 2003. She graduated from Wheaton College, Summa Cum Laude with a master’s degree in art history and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society. She loved art history and enjoyed antiquing, classical music and everything related to the stock market. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Donald Murray, Hampden; four children: Shawna and Janice Murray, Massachusetts; Donald Murray and his wife, Meredith, Quebec; Allison Valley and her husband, John, Holden; five grandchildren: Sarah and Lindsay Murray, Quebec; Adelaide, Aidan and Rowan Valley, Holden; one brother, Albert Allen, Stellarton.
Family and friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Kiley and Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service honoring her life will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, Eastern Main Medical Center, chaplaincy director presiding. A time of fellowship will be immediately afterward.
