It is with great sadness that the family of Anne Chivilo (nee Steele) announce her passing on Monday, December 19, 2011 after a short battle with ALS, at the age of 77. Mourning her passing are her son, Chris (Tracey) Innisfail; daughter, Kim (Jamie), Martensville; son, Steven (Diane), Martensville; daughter, Gina, Saskatoon. Also missing her greatly are her grandchildren, MaryGrace and Conor Wall, Jonah and Hanna Chivilo, Jenny Redshaw, Mitchell Redshaw, Christian Chivilo and great-grandchildren, Piper Lunty, Kinsley Stewart. Also mourning her passing are her brother, Merrill Steele (Carol), Stanhope, PEI; sister-in-law, Jean Steele, Charlottetown, PEI; cousin, Nadine; and many nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband, Bernie; parents, Fred and Grace Steele; brother, Paul Steele; niece, Cindy Steele. Anne was born April 21, 1934 in Charlottetown, PEI. She grew up in Charlottetown graduated from St. Joseph’s Convent. Anne went on to become an RN and graduated from Charlottetown School of Nursing in 1956. After graduating she went to Fort McLeod to nurse and met her husband Bernie. They married in Charlottetown, PEI and settled in to raise their family. She continued nursing at the Rehab Centre until they moved to Kensington, PEI, where she worked at the Sunnyside nursing Home in Summerside. She then went into home care until 1984. When the family moved to Saskatoon she began working at the Saskatoon Covalence Home where she worked till she retired in 1996. There was nothing more Mum enjoyed than spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids – This brought her much joy. A very special thanks to the palliative home care nurses Susan and Janet; also Sheila and Amada home care aids and Dr. V. Walker, who is a most caring and gentle doctor, and all the nursing staff at St. Paul’s Hospital. Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 300-8th Avenue South, Martensville, celebrated by Father Iheanyi Enwerem. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services & Crematory, Martensville (242-7888).
