Raymond John Goodyear 1916 – 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond John Goodyear announce his sudden passing at his daughter’s residents in Little Rapids, NL on December 21, 2011 at the age of 95. Ray was a member of the Elk’s Club, Lodge #59 and NL Sports Hall of Fame. He was a long-time player of Old Timer’s Baseball. Ray retired from Abitibi Price in Grand Falls-Windsor in the 70’s as Boss Machine Tender. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 69 years, Teresa Goodyear; daughters, Maureen (Tom) Ring of St. John’s, and Beverley (Hardy) Batt of Little Rapids. Also leaving to mourn is Ray’s special granddaughter Tonya Ring of Calgary, AB; Shirley Thomas (niece) and family, Grand Falls-Windsor; Joan Hrankowski (niece) and family, BC; and many special friends in Grand Falls-Windsor. Fr. Hearn conducted the funeral service at Central Funeral Homes Chapel on Union Street on December 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery.
