WATSON: Vera Bella Watson, age 98 years of Swift Current, SK, passed away at the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home, Ponteix, SK. on December 15, 2011. A memorial service was held at the Vanguard Health Care Centre, Vanguard, SK at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 20, 2011, with Lay Minister Pamela Scott of the United Church officiating. The eulogist was Brad Stenberg, the organist was Colleen Gerbrandt and solo selections were rendered by Penny Stenberg. Vera is survived by a daughter Shirley Stenberg and a son Chuck Watson (Evelyn); grandchildren: Brad Stenberg, Maureen Houghton (Teeder), Boyd Stenberg (Penny), Blair Stenberg (Vickey), Keith Watson (Kathy), Debra Johnston, Michelle Lazottelo, Charlene Martin; great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Rustyn and Carter Stenberg, Thomas Houghton, Laura Ann Chalk (Will), Baxter Houghton (Ammysha), Meeghan Houghton, Style Stenberg, Tyvon Stenberg, Cole, Zachery and Joel Stenberg, Steven Johnston, Angela Johnston, Chris Ploude, Jayme Martin, Brandon Martin, Pam Martin; great-great-grandchildren: Koehn and Sterling Chalk, Ryder Johnston, Cayden Johnston; two brothers Claude Closs and Eucled Closs. The deceased was predeceased by: her parents, Charles and Zella Closs; husband Charles Watson; brother Chet Closs; sisters: Ann Harden, Vi Gertz and Mabel Harden a son-in-law Len Stenberg and a grandchild Vicky Stenberg. Vera was born in the St. Boswells District, SK (35-12-07-W. 3rd. M.) March 21, 1913. She attended school at St. Boswells and on December 26, 1934 was united in marriage to Charles Watson. The couple resided and farmed in the Braddock district until 1965, then moved to reside in Vanguard, thence to Swift Current in 1994. She was a farm wife, homemaker and a former Postmistress. Vera was an active member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her special interests included; knitting, reading, playing scrabble and other card games and curling. Memorial donations in her memory to the St. Joseph Nursing Home, Ponteix, SK. would be appreciated. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arangements.
