Ena Charlotte Aileen Rogers - 85, of Wolfville, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at home. Born in Wolfville, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Clayton Allen. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John. She was employed at Porters Clothing and the EKM Hospital in Wolfville as a Nurse’s Aide for 25 years. Ena and John operated Allen's Meat Market in Wolfville for a short time. After retiring from nursing she decided to do home nursing, in Wolfville and the surrounding areas for several years, which she enjoyed very much. She was a lifelong member of the Melanson Community Club and the Wallbrook Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed baking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and family members. She also enjoyed walking, travelling and spent most summers at their cottage on Sunken Lake. Ena is survived by her two daughters, Julie Rogers, Wolfville; Sherry Lee (John) Vandertuin, Lakeville; two grandchildren, Megan (John) Hopkins, Cambridge and Devan Vandertuin, Cambridge. She is also survived by brothers, Paul (Marg), Alton (Sheila), Steve (Maxine), Bud (Johanna - deceased), Les (Charlotte); sisters, Rosalind (Gill), Barb (Ken), Audrey (Tony), Beverly (Murray); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Joe, Glen, Chesley, Charlie and a sister, Dorothy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial took place in the Gaspereau Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations can be made to Wallbrook Baptist Church and the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
