Jane Scott
Today we announce the passing of a very special woman.
Jane Ann Scott(Gallagher) Feb 8th, 1940 ended her journey at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 29, 2011. A seven year breast cancer survivor she never gave up. Even when a new cancer attacked she faced it head on with hope, determination and dignity. Always with honesty and integrity she prepared herself and her family for the road ahead.
Jane will be remembered not only as an amazing wife, mother, nanny, sister and friend but as a physical education teacher and athletic coach. Most recently her passion for basketball was shared with her grandchildren. The years spent first as an instructor to her grandson David and then as a coach to him and his teammates created a bond that will never be broken. Her insistence for good behaviour and respect along with a superb knowledge of the game created an atmosphere that will always be remembered. The winning, the losing...all an instrumental part of life that she shared with her grandchildren and their teammates. Her love for fitness and education gave her the ability to motivate and teach youth not only how to dribble a ball but life lessons that will not soon be forgotten. Her competitive spirit always evident made her a force to be reckoned with even at the bowling alley and in front of a dart board. Jane always gave her best effort and loved to do well.
Jane, along with her husband Allie lived in British Columbia from 1965 until 1979. It was on the west coast that Jane created a unique family unit that shares a strength second to none. Our numbers are small but her strength has made us mighty.
Although Jane loved her friends and her life in BC her desire to be closer to her parents and siblings was strong. In 1979 the opportunity to return to the Maritimes presented itself and Jane and Allie jumped on it. It was here that Jane and Allie continued their journey together. For eight years they owned and operated the Pied Piper Motel in Nappan, another challenge that Jane faced head first. This adventure created much work and some very challenging times but also resulted in the formulation of some unique friendships and experiences. More than a few laughs have been shared about the days at the motel!
Once retirement presented itself to Jane she embraced it. Unwilling to be left behind Jane learned to ski at age 50. If Katie could learn at three surely she could handle it at 50! Our times at Ski Wentworth are cherished.
Jane also loved to travel. She and Allie had numerous car and motorcycle trips across Canada and the US. Jane also learned to get a handle on her fear of flying...not wanting to miss out she overcame her fear and had trips with us to Europe, Spain, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Hawaii and Las Vegas. The memories that were created will last a life time for her family. Also Jane and her sisters developed a love for New York. They were blessed to travel together on five separate occasions to the Big Apple...times none will forget.
The void that has been created by her passing is vast but the memories that she has created for us will allow us to remember and cherish her always. We love you Mom, forever and always.
Jane leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Lionel Alexander(Allie) Scott. Her daughter Marjorie Scott and her partner John Ripley,Amherst. Marjorie's children David Duizer and his wife Amy (New Westminister, British Columbia) and Katie Duizer (Amherst). Her son, David, his wife Donna and their children, Connor and Olivia all of Amherst.
