With much sadness, the family of Nettie M. Tower, age 82, of Amherst announce her peaceful passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Blair and Bessie (MacKenzie) White.
Nettie worked for many years in various hospitals including, Pugwash, Saint John,Halifax and Amherst Highland View Hospital, as well as the infirmary in the "School for the Deaf". A woman of kindly nature, she thought of others before herself. She loved to play bingo, take long walks on the beach and spending time at the family cottage at Blair's Lake.
Nettie will be sadly missed by her husband, John Tower, Amherst; a daughter, Lorna Tower, Sackville: a son, John (Helen) Tower of Fenwick, NS; 4 grandchildren, Ryan LeBlanc, Lydia Tower, John and Bethany O'Blenis; 3 great grandchildren, Katlin, Michael and Annie.
She was predeceased by a son Walter in 1974 and by 2 brothers, Walter and Blair.
Nettie's remains have been cremated under the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777), from where a memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at 11 am. Burial in the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery in the spring. Donations to a charity of the donor's choice gratefully accepted. www.furlongjones.ca
