Verna Colborne-Giles

COLBORNE-GILES, VERNA - Verna Imogene Colborne-Giles, 87, formerly of Wentworth, died peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, N.B., on Thursday, January 5, 2012. Born in Wallace Station she was a daughter of the late Lamert and Annie (Forshner) Keiver. Verna was well-known for her sewing ability and for many years was a saleslady for Avon products. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, knitting, playing bingo, playing cards and loved to dance. She was formerly a member of the Wentworth Pioneers Seniors Group and the Golden Years Society, Amherst. Dearly loved mother of Margaret Colborne, Pugwash; Gloria Beaumont, Amherst; Carol Fisher, Vananda, B.C.; Lawrence (Marg) Colborne, St. Stephen, N.B.; Ardith (Tom) Barron, Moncton, N.B.; Wade (Donna) Keiver, Dorchester, N.B.; loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, James Keiver, Wallace Station; sister, Shirley Palmer, Wentworth; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by husbands, Ira Colborne and Leonard Giles; long-time friend, Earl McGill; son, Richard Colborne; grandsons, Perry Fisher and David McNeil; brothers, Donald and Ray Keiver.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 7, with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 8, both in Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (243-2506). Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Burial in the Collingwood/Wyvern Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
