GEORGE LEMUEL WEIR
1920 – 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late George L. Weir announce his passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale on January 2, 2012 at the age of 91. George was a member of the Salvation Army. He retired from fishing and boat building. Predeceased by his wife Elsie; sister Mamie Weir and parents Pearce & Minnie Weir. Left with fond and loving memories is his daughter Margaret (Roy) Oxford of Springdale. Also leaving to mourn granddaughter Adrienne (Chris) Hewlett, grandson Lorne (Jennifer) Oxford and great-granddaughter Heidi, all of Fort McMurray, nieces and nephews as well as many other family and friends. Majors Robert and Cassie Kean conducted the funeral service from the Salvation Army Citadel in Springdale on January 6, 2012. Interment was at the Salvation Army Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Weir, Colin Weir, Dion Weir, Dean Weir, Lorne Oxford and Chris Hewlett. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Ken Goodyear and Marilyn Stuckless of Central Funeral Homes.
