Passed away unexpectedly at the Lady Dunn Health Centre, Wawa, Ontario, on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the age of 66 years.
Beloved wife of Blain for 45 years. Motivating mother of Pauline Dawson (Ken Anderson). Loving and spoiling grandmother of Xantra Paquette, the late Jadiah Leigh Paquette, Zane Paquette and Dexter Dawson. Dear daughter of the late Jean Hazel (nee Crosby) and the late Manford Beer of Hampton, Prince Edward Island. Shirley leaves behind many friends in Wawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.
She was well known for her love of darts, crib and euchre that she enjoyed with the ladies from the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Sports Team as well as the Seniors Centre. Shirley also enjoyed selling Avon for many years and was a dedicated volunteer in the community.
Friends are invited to visit at the P.M. Gilmartin Funeral Home (140 Churchill Avenue, Wawa, ON 1-800-439-4937) on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Wawa Baptist Church on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Henson officiating. Spring interment at the Woodland Cemetery, Wawa, ON.
Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
