SPEEDY, RUTH - It is with great sadness to announce the death of Ruth Caroline (White) Speedy of McAdam, NB on January 8, 2012 at Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, NB. Ruth was born February 8, 1914 at Moore's Mills where she received her early education, graduating from McAdam High School in 1931 and from the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton in 1932. Ruth will be fondly remembered by many of her students in Charlotte and Saint John counties, also the Protestant Orphans Home in Lancaster, NB. She was a member of St. Marks United Church, Lancaster and St. Paul's United Church, McAdam where she was in the choir and President of the UCW for many years. Ruth enjoyed an active retirement travelling with her husband and being with family and friends at their cottage at Oromocto Lake. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Speedy; her parents, Arthur White and Susan (McGibbon) White; sister, Hazel Grearson (Irving); brother, William White (Marion). She is survived by her daughters, Joan Flynn (Donald) of Fredericton, NB, Joyce Jordan (Gary) of Hertford, NC, Patsy Stover (Peter Leahy) of London, ON; grandchildren, Derek Flynn of Nepean, ON, Kevin Flynn of Fredericton, NB, Colin Jordan of Kentucky, Christopher Jordan of Virginia, Paige Lang of San Francisco, Paul Stover of Calgary, AB; Twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and burial will not be held at this time. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at a later date which will be announced. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to S.O. Mehan & Son, 23 Main St., St. Stephen, NB. Condolences may be made online to www.mehanfuneralhome.ca.
