Fabian 'Bud' Boone

Born In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: Canada
Passed on: January 11th, 2012

Fabian ‘Bud’ passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care unit in the Victoria General Hospital surrounded by his family on January 11, 2012, four days after his 77th birthday.
He was born in Glace Bay and raised by parents Jessie Maude Kennedy and Joseph Patrick Boone. He moved to Halifax at the age of 17, where he met and married the girl next door. Bud and Gerry married in 1959.
Bud spent his entire life in Nova Scotia, living in towns from Glace Bay to Yarmouth. His 33 year career in banking fueled his life-long interest in business and entrepreneurship. He often served as treasurer and/or chair at the various organizations he was involved in, such as the Lion's, Kinsmen and Rotary clubs. Bud enjoyed sailing in the Northwest Arm during the days of canvas sails. During his younger years, he also enjoyed curling, golf and photography. In his last years, he enjoyed playing extreme coastal croquet with family and friends in West Pennant and also returned to his teenage pastime of playing billiards.
He had an amazing memory and loved to tell stories. Until his very last days, he could recall every detail of events throughout his life from the many communities he had lived as if it were yesterday.
Bud was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Geraldine (Gerry) Boone (Hennigan). He is survived by his son Fabian Joseph (Nadia);
daughter Cheryl Doucette (John); sisters Marilyn Rohmer of Sydney and Brenda Nygard (Allen) of Glace Bay.
The family is grateful for the exceptional care given by all the hospital staff involved during his recent admission.
To honour Bud's wishes, there will be no visitation. Mass will be held at Saint Agnes Parish on Tuesday January 17th at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at Saint Agnes church hall. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the N.S. Lung Association, N.S. Cancer Society or charity of choice.
