William “Bill” Oliver Godfrey, loving husband of Joan (Wharton) Godfrey passed away on Friday January 6, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1935 in Mill Village, NS he was the son of the late Russell and Ruth (Lockwood) Godfrey. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Lester and sister Isabelle. Bill worked at Rothesay Paper for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 53 for 50 years. He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter. Besides his loving wife Joan of 50 years, he is survived by his daughters Joanne Godfrey (Ron) and Teresa Godfrey both of Saint John; grandchildren DJ Godfrey of Sussex and Kayla Godfrey of Saint John; great grandson Malakai of Sussex; and sister Mary Smith of Bridgewater, NS. By Bill’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in memory of Bill made to the Saint John Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family.
