Raymond Leger
LÉGER, RAYMOND - Raymond Léger, 63, of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012 following a lengthy illness at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton. Born on February 23, 1948 in Scoudouc, he was the son of Edmée (Allain) and the late Lucien Léger (2001). In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing darts and was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He will be missed by many friends at Ocean Surf Trailer park where he spent his summers since 1996. He enjoyed going to the beach, bonfires and music, playing cards with the boys at Arnold and Lodia’s trailer. Raymond retired from Amcor PET Packaging Inc., formerly Twinpak Atlantic in 2006 after 22 years service. During his last winter at work, he enjoyed his trip to Varadero, Cuba. After retirement, he enjoyed his winter trips to Anna Maria Island in Florida where he made good friends. His greatest pleasure for the last few years was listening to Radio Beauséjour 89.5 FM CJSE. He will be sadly missed by his mother and his devoted spouse, Anna (Léger); one daughter, Christine Belliveau (Rick) and his grandson, Corey, of Dieppe; three sisters: Joanne Richard (Donald) of Haute-Aboujagane, Nora (Roméo Cormier) of Moncton and Raymonde (Bill Martin) of Dieppe; one brother, Clet (Stella) of Moncton; his niece and nephews: Victor (Sylvie), Gilles, Marc, Jocelyne, Marc, Daniel and Michel; one great-nephew, Luc, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed by his little calico cat, “la belle petite Minette à “Dida”. Many thanks to the team of health care workers, front line and behind the scenes at both hospitals and Unité de médecine familiale for their contributions to Raymond’s care over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Marcel Roy, Raymond’s long time family physician, Dr. Pierre Verger, Charline and the nurses at Clinique externe 2 since February 2010, the staff at 4E and more recently the staff at 3C. Many thanks to Dr. Eric St-Germain, Dr. Frank Schweiger, Dr. Michael Forsythe and the staff at 5600 at the Moncton Hospital for Raymond’s care from November 12 to December 5, 2011. Many thanks to all the doctors and health care workers we might have failed to mention.
By request, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be celebrated at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Father Arthur Bourgeois officiating.
