It is with a heavy heart that we send news of the passing of Philip Ormond on Jan. 5, 2012, at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Philip was born on July 31, 1939 in Sydney and was the youngest child of Patrick and Suzanna (O’Grady) Ormond.
Philip is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughters, Susan (Corry) and Sarah (Shane); sisters, Mamie Johnston and Margaret LeLievre; brothers, Dougal (Margaret) and Edmund (Sharon); stepchildren, Jared (Svetlana) and Leah Connolly; grandchildren, Amy, John, Tony, Sasha, David, Chrystal and Dominic; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Dennis LeLievre and Edward Johnston.
Philip served in the Canadian Forces from April 1959 to August 1963. Following his discharge from the forces he moved to British Columbia where he worked in the construction industry, primarily working on road building projects.
After retirement he enjoyed his time at home on his hobby farm. Over the years he spent his time raising thoroughbred horses and later restoring antique tractors.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Sharon United Church, Langley, B.C.
Philip remained a true Cape Bretoner throughout his life. We will miss his strong hugs, his sense of humour and will forever cherish the memory of his quiet ways.
