It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Joseph Miller, 63, on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 5, 1948, Kevin was the son of the late George and Angeline (Nearie) Miller.
He was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines.
He was a lifelong resident of Sydney Mines. Kevin was a member of the Seafarers International Union until his retirement.
Kevin will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend, Sharon (Gibson) Miller; his only son, Kenneth (Lori Mitchelitis) and granddaughters, Kendrick and Kendall, Georges River. Also left to mourn are his brother, James (Elsie), Sydney Mines; sisters, Yvonne (Arnold) Lamb, and Kay (Art) Wagner, both of B.C.; sisters-in-law, Donna Miller and Debbie Miller, Sydney Mines; and many nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his brothers, Blaine and Leonard.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
Donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the palliative care society, or to a charity of one’s choice.
