Mary Anderson Ross - 87, formerly of New Minas, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Scotland, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Ann (Buschnell) Drummond. She had been employed as a seamstress with Leopold Dry Cleaners and Steadman’s and later worked at People’s Department Store. She was a member and Past Noble Grand of St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, Kentville, where she served in several offices. She was also a member of the Canton, Halifax, of which she was the head for the Atlantic Provinces. She was also a member of the New Minas Seniors. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Whiston, Cambridge; two sons, Ian (Lucy), Ottawa and Allan, British Columbia; six grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Ross; two sons, Billy and Angus. There was no visitation, by request. A combined Rebekah Lodge service and funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Judith Saunders officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Grand View Manor.
